The Center for Innovation through Visualization and Simulation (CIVS) helped host the PNW College of Technology’s GenCyber Summer Camps for high school students, held June 11 – 15 and 18 – 22, 2018.
The GenCyber Camps provided students with hands-on experiences in cybersecurity fundamentals and training, robot game design, cyber forensics, ethical hacking, and principal keys to cybersecurity awareness. Students could also participate in a team competition solving a simulated computer forensics case.
CIVS members helped develop and implement a cybersecurity awareness virtual reality (VR) game in which real-world computer hacking attempts are simulated. The camps were launched in conjunction with an NSA Cybersecurity Workforce Education Grant: “An Innovative Immersive Learning Pedagogical Method Development for Cybersecurity Education,” Dr. Michael Tu, PI.
