The PNW School of Engineering is pleased to host John Mengel, an industry veteran, for his presentation of “On the threshold of a dream,” and his dispensation of wisdom about finding satisfaction in a career of your choice.

Mengel serves as Vice President and General Manager, ArcelorMittal Burns Harbor. In this capacity, John is responsible for the operations of the Burns Harbor and Columbus facilities. He oversees the day-to-day operations of both sites including safety, quality, productivity, budgeting and cost control, and employee development. John joined the predecessor company, Bethlehem Steel, in 1976 and has held various positions of increasing responsibility within Burns Harbor and plate operations. His previous position was chief operating officer, plate operations, ArcelorMittal USA. John earned a Bachelor of Science degree in industrial engineering from Penn State University.
