The ISM 102 test out is available during a specified window each semester.
The ISM 10200 test out windows for 2019 are:
- April 29 – May 10 for summer semester
- August 5 – 16 for fall semester
All testing must be completed during this window; the test-out will not be available once the semester has started. Students can attempt the test-out only once. Contact the Hammond or Westville test center to schedule a date and time during the window to test.
Cost for testing is $20.00, payable to Purdue University Northwest the day of testing by cash or check. No other costs are associated with this exam.
The test has five parts:
- A 30-question business information systems concepts exam (multiple choice)
- A Microsoft Word 2016 Capstone Project
- A Microsoft Excel 2016 Capstone Project
- A Microsoft Access 2016 Capstone Project
- A Microsoft PowerPoint 2016 Capstone Project
The concepts exam is timed at 30 minutes. The Capstone Projects are not individually timed; however, a total of 210 minutes (three and a half hours) is allowed to complete all five parts in one sitting. Registration for the exam is completed when you arrive for testing and $20.00 payment is made.
A score of 70% or higher is required on each of the five parts to test out of the ISM 10200 course. (If you score 100% on four parts and 69% on one part, you will not have successfully tested out and must then enroll in the ISM 10200 course). No exceptions will be made to this policy. No resources or references may be used, and only one attempt is allowed.
Contact the Testing Services Center at either Hammond or Westville with questions or to schedule an appointment.
